Setup

To perform monetary actions on Cent, you'll need to authorize an Ethereum address by completing the Cent Wallet setup.

If you want to learn more about cryptocurrency, you can start by taking a look at these helpful links.

To begin your Cent Wallet setup,

  • Click the "Menu" icon in the top-left corner of the screen and select "Account".

  • Navigate to the "Wallet" tab in your account and click the "Setup" button.

  • Enter your country code and mobile number to create or login to your account.

  • You will receive an 8-digit code to your mobile device.  Enter this code when prompted to continue.

Note: Do not share this code with anyone!

  • Next, create and confirm a 6-digit PIN and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Once connected, the status will update to "Connected".

For more information on mobile verification, check out this post.

*Note: If you already have a web3 wallet you'd like to use, click "or use an existing wallet" instead of "Setup".

  • You will be asked to sign a message. If you are using Metamask, a modal called "Signature Request" should pop up. If you are using a web3 enabled app like Trust Wallet or Coinbase Wallet, a similar message will automatically appear.

  • Click "Sign" to authorize your address.

  • Once connected, the status will update to "Connected".

Depositing ETH into Cent Wallet

  • In order to deposit ETH into Cent Wallet, first make sure that the web3 enabled browser that you used to complete Cent Wallet Setup has a positive ETH balance.

  • Next, simply go to the Cent Menu and click Account > Balance > Deposit.  Then, enter the amount of ETH you would like to deposit.

  • After you sign the message to complete a deposit of ETH from your web3 enabled browser to Cent Wallet, whenever you want to make a tip, post a bounty or withdraw your earned ETH, you will simply be asked to sign a message using the authorized address(es) that you entered in the previous step.

*Note: If you don't own any ETH, you can either earn some on Cent or click here to buy some on Coinbase.

Withdrawing ETH from Cent Wallet

  • Click the "Withdraw" button located under your balance.

  • Enter the amount you'd like to withdraw, in either USD or ETH.

  • Copy and paste in the Ethereum wallet address you'd like to withdraw your funds to.  Please double check that the address is correct.  We cannot recover your funds if they are sent to the wrong address.

  • Click the "Submit" button.  If you are using Metamask, you should receive a pop-up notification for a "Signature Request".  If you are using a web3 enabled app like Trust Wallet or Coinbase Wallet, a similar message will automatically appear.

  • Click "Sign" to authorize your address.

  • You will now see an item at the top of your transaction history called "Withdraw".  As long as it's grayed out, the transaction is pending. You can click the word "Withdraw" to view the status of the transaction and the record of the transaction on Etherscan.

  • Once the transaction is confirmed, it will show up in your transaction history as red with a "-" sign.  The funds have now been successfully received by your Ethereum wallet.

Adding Additional ETH Addresses

  • If you want to add an additional ETH address on top of your already authorized address, this will require a signature from an already authorized address.  Make sure you are signed in with the previously authorized address in order to authorize a new address.

  • For example, if you used ETH address 0x123... as your first address to complete Cent Wallet Setup, you can only add new address 0x456... by signing a message approving that additional ETH address using your first ETH address 0x123... A third ETH address can be added by signing a message approving that additional ETH address with either 0x123 or 0x456 ETH addresses. And so on.

  • We highly recommend you authorize at least two addresses in case you lose access to your device or private keys.

  • Clicking the address allows you to edit the label or copy the address.
