Welcome to Segments!

Here, it’s easy to create targeted Audience lists when you need them, no more waiting for HR and IT. Use Segments not only to reach the right audience and reduce noise, but also to dig into Insights for key pockets of your organization.

1. Create New

Broadcast has two types of Segments: rules-based Dynamic Segments are always up to date based on your Audience Attributes, and Manual Segments allow you to group subscribers based on any criteria.

Segments are created from Audience > Segments. Click Create New to continue.

2. Name Your Segment

Whether you create a Dynamic or Manual Segment, start with a Name that will be clear and easy to find when targeting Blasts or using filters.

3. Dynamic Segments

For Dynamic Segments, set rules like Date Subscribed is On or before [Date], and use And/Or operators between your rules to further refine your audience.

4. Manual Segments

This will look familiar if you’ve manually imported subscribers. Check the Data Template for tips, prepare your document, and load your .csv or .txt file with at least a column containing emails.

5. Manage Access

Segments are Restricted to the creator and Admins by default, but you can go here to make them Global and open them to all your Team Members.

6. Segment Tables

Your newly created Segments will appear your My Segments table. (Expect the Audience to populate in 5 to 10 minutes.) From the tables, click the menu to Edit, Manage Access, or Delete.

Ready, Set, Segment!

Try it for yourself, and check off another Discover task. These guides will walk you through the process, and you’ll be ready to target a communication in just 6 steps.
