Who Can Take an In-Person Proctored Exam?

  • Students enrolled in an in-person class with Certivance

  • The exam is administered at the end of class on the same day

The exam format depends on the certification program:

  • Always Food Safe Manager: Digital (online) exam

Proctored Exam Rules (Applies to All Formats)

To maintain the integrity of the exam process, the following rules apply to all examinees:

Identification & Check-In

  • Present a valid, original photo ID with your signature (no photocopies).

  • Sign in on the Examinee Entry/Exit Log.

  • Your ID will be held by the proctor during the exam and returned afterward.

Personal Belongings

  • Store all personal items away from your seat. This includes:

    • Phones, smartwatches

    • Bags/purses

    • Notes or electronic devices

  • These items are not accessible during the exam or breaks.

Seating & Instructions

  • You will be assigned a seat due to exam security requirements.

  • Wait for the proctor’s permission before beginning.

  • Follow all proctor instructions throughout the session.

During the Exam

  • You may skip and return to questions as needed.

  • Never leave an answer blank—there’s no penalty for guessing.

  • You may take brief restroom breaks:

    • Only one person at a time may leave.

    • You cannot access personal items during the break.

    • Your exam time away is recorded and monitored.

    • Exam materials must be secured before you leave and reissued upon your return.
