Signing Up for Chargeflow Alerts

Written by Avia Chen

Signing up and activating Alerts is easy, follow the guide below for a quick and successful enrollment.

Step 1: Submit your enrollment request.

  1. In the Alerts Tab click on: "Activate Now"

2. Following this step, you will be presented the option to select your relevant Payment Processors.

3. You'll then be prompted to select your payment processor(s). If yours isn't listed, choose "Other" and type the name manually. A matching suggestion should pop up—just click on it to auto-fill the field.

💡 It's important to fill in the descriptors exactly as they're listed by the payment processors, ensuring precise use of lowercase and uppercase characters.

4. Adding payment method: It is vital to add your payment method (if you haven't already) in order to onboard to Chargeflow Alerts.

💡 Chargeflow places a temporary 7-day hold of $100 on your payment method to verify its eligibility. These funds will be refunded to your original payment method after the 7-10 business days.

Please note the following payment method restrictions:

  • Shopify Payments is not supported. A valid credit card must be kept on file at all times with available funds.

  • 3D Secure (3DS) credit cards are not supported. Credit cards that require 3DS authentication cannot complete transactions during Alerts enrollment. If this affects you, please use an alternative credit card that does not require 3DS authentication.

  • No bank transfers or top-up cards for standard accounts. The Alerts service requires a valid credit card on file. Top-up cards, bank transfers (ACH/Wire), and manual approval or pay-per-alert workflows are not supported for standard clients.

5. Provide ARNs: Visa requires additional information for enrollment. To learn more, check out: What Are Visa ARN Numbers and How to Find Them?

6. Complete the onboarding: Once done, click ‘Activate’.

Step 2: Provide refund access to your payment processor

Before enrolling in Alerts, the Chargeflow team will need "refund" access to your payment processor to process and prevent alerts.

⚠️This step is mandatory, and you will not be onboarded to Chargeflow Alerts until it is completed. Our Alerts team (alerts@chargeflow.io) will send an email once they receive your request and they will also request this. (For details on data privacy and security, visit our Trust Center.)

  • Shopify Payments

    • The Chargeflow team will sent you an email requesting for a Shopify collaborator access which includes the permissions needed for Alerts.
You can find this in three different ways:
      1. Email (look for a title “Request for store access from Chargeflow, Inc.”)
      2. Shopify Dashboard
      3. Shopify Settings > Users & Permissions > Collaborators

If you’re unable to locate it, please reach out to our support team.

  • Stripe

    • We require full access to your Stripe account to quickly identify the alerted transaction.
To grant us full access, please follow these simple steps:
      1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
      2. Navigate to the "Settings" option.
      3. Select "Team" from the menu.
      4. Click on "Invite User" and enter the Chargeflow managed email (managed@chargeflow.io).
      5. Set the appropriate permissions to grant us full access to the Stripe account. (Roles such as Analyst, Dispute Analyst and Refund Analyst would be useful for us at this time.)

  • Other Processors

    • Please contact our support team for detailed instructions.

Step 3: Watch out for an email from the Chargeflow team

Keep an eye on your email for further instructions from the Chargeflow team.

If everything goes through smoothly, your Mastercard Alerts should be active within 2 business days.

To complete your Visa Alerts enrollment, your ARNs need to be validated before the enrollment can proceed. If you'd like to skip this validation and get enrolled within 10 business days, you can provide the following Visa details — you can request these from your payment processor's support or billing team:

  • Visa MCC

  • Visa CAID

  • Visa BIN

Alerts View in the Chargeflow App

After signing up and activating the Alerts feature, Alerts will then begin to populate within the Chargeflow Dashboard in the Alerts Tab.

💡 Your alerts table will not populate until you receive your first alert. This process can take between 24 hours to 15 days from the completion of the enrollment, depending on your dispute volume.

Still enrolled with a different chargeback prevention provider?

Merchants cannot be enrolled with two chargeback prevention (alerts) services at the same time. Since enrollment happens at the card network level (via Visa and Mastercard), having two providers active on the same descriptor causes system conflicts and duplicate alerts.

If you're switching providers, you can either disenroll from your current provider first, or check out our Migrating to Chargeflow Alerts from Another Provider guide to ensure a smooth transition without any gaps in your chargeback protection.
