Patch Application

Here are some ways to attach your patches to items at home. At Charlie Pickles we use a industrial heat press that mixes the right pressure and temperature, to make sure patches are permanently applied. But if you are applying your patches at home, here are some tips and tricks.

APPLY WITH

HEAT

All of our patches, including our peel and stick patches, can be applied using heat. However the exact heat and pressure, will depend on the fabric you are applying to. Make sure to set your iron or heat press according to the specific fabric. Most items have care labels to guide you, which is key for avoiding damage. Delicates like silk need a gentle touch, and nylon is prone to melting, so it's important to avoid excessive heat. Use a Iron, and protect your item with a teflon sheet or cloth to protect.

APPLY WITH

GLUE

If you are unsure of how your fabric will react to heat or you're having a hard time attaching the patch, we always recommend a heavy duty Glue, such as our go-to favourite, E-6000 which is what many dance competitors use to apply rhinestones to their costumes.
