The TL;DR is that Zoom requires admin approval for apps on most accounts. Below we list the steps to change that permission setting or to grant access specific apps.

Zoom admin approval for WorkPatterns app

First off, does this even apply to your account?

For single-user accounts (free or paid), Zoom Apps are enabled and pre-approval of Marketplace apps is not required. So you're good.

If you're on a business account, you will need permission from your Zoom Admin. And here's how to do that:

  • Step 1: Click "Install" then “request pre-approval” from our Zoom App authorization page.

  • Step 2: Find your company's Zoom Admin (here's a shortcut to your Account Profile). The Account Owner line will have the email address of your organization's Zoom Account Admin.

  • Step 3: Loop in Charma's support team to help with approval from your Zoom admin using the copy/paste template below:

I am trying to use a free Zoom app called Charma WorkPatterns. Can you please approve it for use? You can also approve it from their Zoom marketplace listing page:

You should have also received an email from Zoom support with these instructions:

If you have questions about what it does or other security questions, I've cc'd on this request.

If you are the Zoom account owner or have admin access, jump to:

Account admins need to allow the Zoom Apps button to be visible and also TURN OFF/DISABLE pre-approval of Marketplace apps.

To adjust your overall pre-approval settings, you can change your Zoom account's general permissions:

  1. Navigate to and sign in as an admin or account owner.

  2. In the top-right corner of the Marketplace, click Manage.

  3. In the My Admin Dashboard section, click Permissions.

  4. Adjust Require publicly listed apps on the Zoom App Marketplace to be pre-approved for your users as needed.

  5. If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.

  6. (Optional) Select the Allow publicly listed apps created by Zoom to be installed without admin pre-approval check box to exempt Zoom-created apps from pre-approval by an admin.

  7. (Optional) Select the Allow publicly listed apps created by users in your account to be installed without admin pre-approval check box to exempt apps created by a member of your organization from pre-approval by an admin.

Or owners and admins can search for any apps on the Marketplace and pre-approve just one:

  1. Sign in to

  2. Search for an app and click on the icon to select it.

  3. In the Who can install section, enable the Pre-approve toggle.

By default, Allow all users on your account to install this app is selected. If you would like to instead pre-approve the app for certain users or groups:

  1. Select Allow specific users or user groups to install this app.

  2. Click Add users.

  3. Add users with the following options:

  • Add an individual user: Enter the email address of the user in your account and click Add. Repeat this process as necessary to include additional users.

  • Add a user group: Enter the group name of the user group in your account and click Add. Repeat this process as necessary to include additional user groups.

Note: A combination of individual users and user groups can be given access to a pre-approved app.
