The win rate tells you the percentage of your trades that are winning trades. A winning trade is defined as a trade with a positive P&L. Trades with a P&L of zero are counted as winning trades.
Different strategies have different win rates, so there is no clear recommendation of the correct win rate for success. However, win rates lower than 40% are very rarely profitable.
The lower your win rate, the higher the risk:reward you will require to be successful, and any win rate below 50% will mean that your winning trades will need to be larger than your losing trades.
The “Win Rate over time” chart shows how your win rate changed over the selected time period.
It will also track your win rate against your desired target win rate, and indicate where you are succeeding against your target.
The “Breakdown of your trades by winners and losers” chart lets you see the number of winning trades and the number of losing trades side by side for deeper analysis.
If your “Win Rate over time” shows a few inconsistent periods where (for example) your win rate is poor, then use this chart to understand if it is due to a much fewer number of winning trades OR a larger number of losing trades.
