Where do I get the EA?

You can follow the guide here  http://intercom.help/chasingreturns/mt4-export-adviser/ea-install-guide it will go through everything from download to installation,

Do I need a chart open?

Yes, the EA must be attached to an unused open chart. You will know it is attached when you see the word 'ChasingReturns' in top right corner of the chart. It doesn't matter which chart it is attached too, but it will sync from the account you are currently logged in to, so make sure you are on the correct account.

What is the sad/smiley face in the above image?

EA's can be used to do trading for you. The sad/smiley face is how EA indicates if it has your permission to trade for you or not. Chasing Returns EA will never perform trades and so it is fine for it show the sad face.

How do I know Chasing Returns EA is running?

In the top right hand corner of a chart there will be the word 'ChasingReturns' like in the above image. You can also view the messages in the expert tab to see what the last message from ChasingReturns was. If it is stopped or removed the last message will usually be
"Expert ChasingReturns <chart name> removed".

I'm having trouble installing the EA?

Check if your anti-virus (AV) software is alerting you that you are trying to install something. For some AV it will present you a dialog where you must acknowledge before it will allow the install. In other cases it will be necessary to pause your AV while you perform the installation.

Can it be installed twice?

There is no harm installing our EA twice, it will simply replace the previous version with the new install, no data will be affected. This is how you will upgrade it when new versions are released. You will need to restart your MT4 platform as normal of course.

How do I upgrade the EA?

Yes. Talk to your broker if they are providing you with access. Alternatively  go to the Chasing Returns import page and download our latest EA. You then simply run through the install procedure again. We may periodically ask you to upgrade the EA on login, to keep up-to-date with new features.

How do I know what account is synchronised?

Look at your Chasing Returns screen. Your MT4 Account number is displayed on the top right of the screen.

Can I have more than one account synchronised?

From Chasing Returns EA V4.5 you can now synchronise multiple accounts individually.  If you switch accounts simply re-click "Go to App" and a new tab will open with the new account.

Note only one EA is running at a time, so older accounts will need to be resynched if you trade on them.

If you are still running an old EA please contact us at support@chasingreturns.com for assistance

What if I forget to leave the running?

You won't lose any data. When the EA is reattached to a chart it will send any unsynchronised trades from your current active account. We will detect and retrieve all missed trades.  Chasing Returns warns you if the EA is not running, so that you know your latest traders are not accurately reflected in the platform.

Can I see my Chasing Returns Account from my mobile?

No,  access is directly from your MT4 desktop installation, and it will open your default browser on this machine.

Will it pick up trades I do on my mobile?

Yes, your trades on your MT4 mobile app will appear in your MT4 desktop application where our EA is running. Our EA will then pick up these trades and send them to Chasing Returns.

Will it interfere with my other EAs?

No, the Chasing Return's EA only reads your trade history and sends it to our server so we can provide your insights. It does not interact with other EA's or other parts of the MT4 platform.

What does 'MT4 account not authorized' mean?

If you get the message 'The MT4 account you are using is not authorized for Chasing Returns.' This means that you are either using the wrong account for one of our competitions. Or Chasing Returns is being provided to you by your broker and you are trying to connect an account from a different broker. Please check that the MT4 account you are using is the correct one. You will see the account number in the top left hand corner of the MT4 application.

Why does my MT4 say it 'Cannot Set Timer'?

There is a documented issue with builds of MT4 running on constrained systems, such as AWS or in a virtual environment like Windows running in VirtualBox, that can result in it failing to start its internal timer. This timer is used by the Chasing Returns EA to update information so the error will prevent normal service.
To solve this issue: Close other applications or increase the resources available on the system and restart MT4 and the Chasing Returns EA.

How do I remove Chasing Returns EA from my computer?
