How do I create a new chat?

To create a new chat, select the purple New Chat button at the top left of the screen. From here, you can enter a prompt in the text input box at the bottom of the page, or you can use one of the quickstart options.

How do I use the quickstart options?

There are four quickstart options when you are initiating a chat;

  • πŸ“„ Help me write a PRD

  • πŸ”„ Help me improve an existing PRD (Pro accounts only)

  • πŸš€ I want to brainstorm new features for my roadmap

  • πŸ“¬ Give me feedback on my writing & product ideas

Click on one of these options to get you to great results even faster!

What content should be in my chats?

It's best practice to tell ChatPRD what you want to do, what output you are looking for, and what type of document you want to create. Here are some example prompts:

  • I am a product manager at YouTube and I want to build a feature that helps creators make content that will maximize viewership and subscriber growth. Help me write a PRD for this feature.

  • I want to create a product that helps people figure out what to cook each week. I want it to allow users to choose dietary preferences and then the app will show different meal options that person can choose from. Once all meals are selected for the week, a grocery list will be generated. Help me create user personas for this product.

  • I work in healthcare and want to create a product that improves the patient experience of trying to find a doctor. Currently you have to search online for different doctors and it is hard to know what doctors are in network with your current insurance. Help me write a PR FAQ for this idea.

Make sure you are choosing the template you want used by selecting the template icon in the left of the text input area.

Once you enter your initial prompt, ChatPRD will respond once with some clarifying questions before providing you with a first draft of your documentation.

How do I choose the desired template for a chat?

Select the template icon in the left side of the text input area to choose what template you want used. You can also set your default template in account settings.

Can I switch templates during the course of a chat?

Absolutely! You may want to first create a PRD, then create more detailed User Personas, and then create a Launch Plan. You can do all of that in one single chat.

You can do this by changing the template when you want to shift focus to a different type of output. For example, if I created a great PRD and then wanted to generate a Go-To-Market Plan, I could switch the template from the PRD template to the Go-To-Market template, and then ask ChatPRD to generate a Go-To-Market plan for my feature.

How do I rename, archive, or delete a chat?

You can do these actions by clicking on the three dots next to your chat name. Deleting a chat is a permanent action, meaning it cannot be recovered once deleted. If you'd like to remove a chat from view but are not ready to delete it, we recommend you archive the chat.

Is there a limit for how many chats I can create?

There is no limit for paying users!
