Best Phone Settings For Accurate Color
Updated over 2 months ago

We can’t control how our images appear on different screens when being viewed by our clients, but we can ensure they look their absolute best on our end before we begin editing! When editing images on your phone, starting with an accurate color and temperature base is essential. Here are our recommendations to maintain an accurate starting point:

For iPhone

  • Turn Off True Tone
When True Tone is turned on, it alters the way colors look on your screen depending on the ambient light around you. Often times, the result isn't accurate and it can skew too warm or yellow. Best to turn it off!

    1. You can do so by going to Settings > Display & Brightness.

    2. Then scroll down until you see True Tone, and slide it off!

  • Turn Off Full HDR
Full HDR is another setting that can badly impact color, so we recommend turning it off for the most accurate representation of your images!

    1. To turn it off, use the Search Bar at the top of Settings.

    2. Search 'Photos' and click Photos.

    3. Then scroll until you see 'View Full HDR', and make sure to toggle it off!

For Android

  • Turn off Night Light

When Night Light is turned on, your screen will shift to warmer/yellow tones, which will badly impact the colors in your images. Absolutely make sure to turn it off!

    1. To turn Night Light off, go to Settings > Display & Touch.

    2. Then scroll until you see 'Night Light', and toggle it off!

  • Adjust Color and Color Contrast Settings
Directly below Night Light, you'll see 'Colors' and 'Color Contrast'. Just make sure Colors is set to Natural, and Color Contrast is set to Default!
