How do intro requests work?
Updated over 6 months ago

Our goal with the Cherub platform is to foster deliberate and meaningful interactions between angel investors and startup founders. To do this, we have limited the amount of intros a member can request to 3 a week. This resets weekly with your new Deal Flow drop.

How intros work

  1. Weekly Intro Opportunities:

    • Each week, you receive 3 intro request opportunities.

    • These requests are limited to ensure you focus on making meaningful and intentional connections rather than overwhelming potential contacts.

  2. Deal Flow Drop:

    • Every week, Cherub presents you with a new Deal Flow drop. This is a curated selection of member matches that share overlapping tags and interests with your profile.

    • Your intro requests are refreshed with each Deal Flow drop, providing new opportunities to connect.

Requesting an intro

  • Navigate to the Deal Flow section and review your matches

  • Choose a member you’d like to connect with and click on the "Get Intro" button at the top of the profile

  • Include a meaningful message to accompany your intro request

Crafting Your Message

  • Your message should explain why you want to connect and how both parties might benefit from the introduction

  • Be clear and concise, providing context and any relevant background information that might help the recipient understand your intentions

  • The recipient will receive your message and decide whether to accept the introduction

Why We Limit Intro Requests

  1. Promote Deliberate Connections:

    • By limiting requests to three per week, we encourage you to be selective and thoughtful about the connections you seek. This helps in fostering relationships that are more likely to be meaningful and productive.

  2. Prevent Spamming:

    • A restricted number of requests helps maintain the integrity of the platform and ensures that members are not overwhelmed by excessive or irrelevant connection attempts.

  3. Focus on Quality:

    • Quality connections are essential for building strong professional networks. Limiting the number of requests allows members to focus on creating valuable interactions rather than pursuing quantity over quality.

How the Deal Flow Drop Enhances Connections

  1. Tag-Based Matching:

    • The Deal Flow drop features members with overlapping tags and interests, increasing the likelihood of relevant and beneficial connections.

  2. Weekly Refresh:

    • With a fresh set of matches each week, you have the opportunity to explore new potential connections and expand your network systematically.

  3. Continuous Opportunity:

    • Weekly updates ensure that you always have new opportunities to connect, keeping your networking efforts dynamic and up-to-date.

Best Practices for Making Intro Requests

  1. Personalize Your Message:

    • Tailor your message to each individual. Mention common interests or how you discovered them to make your request more appealing.

  2. Be Clear and Specific:

    • State your intentions clearly. Explain what you hope to achieve from the introduction and how it might benefit both parties.

  3. Respect Boundaries:

    • Understand that not every request will be accepted. Respect the other member’s decision and be open to future opportunities.

  4. Follow Up:

    • If your intro request is accepted, follow up promptly and continue the conversation with the same thoughtfulness and professionalism you demonstrated in your request.
