Chowbus POS Network Disconnection Operation Guide
When your restaurant's internet connection is interrupted, the Chowbus POS system ensures normal operations by operating in offline mode. Below are detailed operating instructions and precautions to help you minimize the impact of internet outages on your business.
Introduction to Offline Mode
If your restaurant's network is disconnected, the Chowbus POS system will automatically switch to offline mode within 30 seconds. You can continue to perform the following operations in this mode:
Accept orders
Send orders to the kitchen
Print orders
Collect payments and record credit card information
This feature is designed to ensure that restaurant operations can continue normally when the network is disconnected.
Offline mode steps
Accepting and Printing Orders: You can continue to accept orders, and the printer will function normally to print orders for delivery to the kitchen.
Accepting Payments: The card reader will still record credit card information, but due to the network disconnection, the card balance cannot be verified. Please avoid using debit cards for payments.
Multi-Device Collaboration: We recommend that you process each order on only one device to avoid processing the same order on multiple devices simultaneously, which could cause data conflicts or duplicate orders.
Notes on using offline mode
Network Requirements: The printer must be connected to the same network as the iPad via an Ethernet cable. - Do not connect the iPad via a mobile hotspot, as this may disable printing.
Payment Management: Since balances cannot be checked, we recommend using cash or credit cards.
Synchronization steps after network recovery
Once the network is restored, tap the menu in the upper-right corner on each iPad.
Select "System Queues" to check the status of all orders.
If any orders are not synced, click "Retry All" to complete the sync. Ensure that all order and payment information is updated.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
How to avoid device conflicts? After entering offline mode, make sure to use only one iPad to process orders.
Is the printer unresponsive? Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your iPad via a network cable.
Data not syncing? Manually sync your orders on all your devices and confirm the sync status.
With the above instructions and suggestions, you can use the Chowbus POS system in an orderly manner during network supply outages to ensure that orders and payments are not affected.
