How do I create a custom theme?

Custom themes let you give every document—and even each individual chapter—its own unique personality. Whether you want something bold, minimal, or playful, you’re in full control of the look and feel.

Themes are saved at the workspace level, so your team can easily re-use and apply them across any document or chapter.

What you can customize

  • Per-document & per-chapter themes – mix it up or keep it consistent.

  • Text & accent colors – choose from the full spectrum of hex colors to match your mood or brand.

  • Google Fonts built-in – access hundreds of fonts for headings and body text.

How to create a custom theme

  1. Go to Settings → Themes.

  2. Click Create theme, or hover over a preset, open the ••• menu, and select Customize to build from an existing style.

  3. In the Create theme modal, you can define:

    • A title for your theme

    • Background, text, and accent colors (light or dark mode, with hex picker support)

    • Font choices for both headings and body text

With these tools, you can create themes that are consistent with your brand or just bring more personality to your presentations.
