Credit books allow courses to collect funds from individual golfers or league players into a group "pot" and distribute the money as credit to the winners.

  • For example, you may have a tournament where each golfer pays $10 into the tournament pot and at the end of the day you distribute $100 in credit to the top players. Credit books will allow you to manage this simply and distribute the winnings.

  • The Credit Book platform is accessible through Loyal Action. To get a Credit Book account set up, please reach out to your account manager or message our support team. To log into your Loyal Action account, click here.

Contributing to Prize Accounts

Notes:

  • If a customer is contributing for more than 1 person, only the person attached to the sale will display as a contributor in the prize account

  • If a customer contributes the same amount multiple times on the same sale, it will stack these items in the sale, but in the back end of the credit book platform it will show all the contributions.

When a customer wants to contribute a prize account (ie. a league prize account), follow these steps:

  1. In Lightspeed Retail, attach a customer to sale

  2. Click on the Prize Account button

  3. Choose the Prize Account you want to contribute to

  4. Enter the amount the customer is contributing and click "Contribute"

  5. Click OK and you will return back to the retail transaction

  6. Add any other items to the transaction you may need then choose Payment, select the payment method and finalize the sale

Viewing Contributions to Prize Accounts

To view all contributions made to a prize account:

  • Open the credit book platform backend

  • Click credit books then prize account

  • Select the prize account you are wanting to view

This will show everyone who has contributed to this prize account, the amount they have contributed including the retail transaction ID. This is also where you will distribute the winnings of the prize account.


Distributing Winnings & Creating Credit Books

Notes on Distributing:

  • To distribute winnings from a prize account you will do this directly in the prize account platform

  • Customer must have an email to have a credit book, you'll get an error if they only have a phone number

    • If you change the customer's email in golf, you can also change the email in Loyal Action back end, opening the customer's credit book and clicking the edit pencil to edit the email

  • You can view all distributions under the Operations section in the prize account

  • Only customers that have contributed to the prize account can be added as winners

    • These are the customers that were attached to the contribution sales, only they will appear in the participation list

  • Once you distribute the winnings, you can click on the customer name for a shortcut to their credit book

  • To view all customer's winnings in the Credit Book platform go to Credit Books and you will see a list of all your customers with credits

  • Distributing winnings does not record in Lightspeed Retail, rather it's done entirely in the credit book backend

  • If you manually add a credit book for an individual in the backend, this will not sync to retail as a customer

When you are ready to distribute the winnings from a prize account to a customer, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Credit Book platform and go to Credit Books - Prize Account

  2. Choose the prize account you are distributing from

  3. Click the + symbol next the winner's name

  4. Enter the amount you are giving to the winner

  5. Click "Distribute Prize Account"

*This will create a credit book for the customer or if they already have a credit book it will add to that balance.


Redeeming Credit Books

When a customer is ready to use their winnings from their credit book in either Lightspeed Retail or Restaurant, follow these steps:

Lightspeed Retail

  1. In a Lightspeed Retail transaction add the customer to the sale

  2. Add the items the customer is purchasing to the sale

  3. Once you are ready to pay, choose the "Credit Books" button

  4. Enter the amount the customer wants to redeem from their credit book

  5. Choose Withdraw

    1. Withdraw will only highlight as an option if you have a sale item on the sale, you can click on return to invoice to add one to return to that screen if needed

  6. Once back on the retail sale screen click Payment

    1. The credit book payment amount will display on the payment screen as "Payment"

    2. If the customer still owes money choose the other payment method for the balance

  7. Click Finalize

Lightspeed Restaurant

  1. Once the table is ready to pay, attach the customer and click Pay

  2. Choose your Loyalty payment method, which may be named Loyalty or Account Summary

    1. If you are unsure which payment method to use in your Restaurant back office go to Payments - Payment Types and click on a payment method to view the payment type. The payment type you are looking for is "Loyalty"

  3. A pop up will appear and choose Resulto Golf Credit Book

  4. Enter the amount you want to use in this sale and click Withdraw

  5. Add another payment method to pay the balance if there is more owing then Finalize the sale


Topping up Credit Books

Notes:

  • A customer can have a credit book without contributing to a prize account. To do so as soon as you add the customer to the sale and click on credit books you can "Top Up" to add an amount to this customer's credit book

  • Topping up the credit book will not contribute to a specific prize account, you will need to use the Prize Account button to do so

Lightspeed Retail:

  1. Attach a customer to a new sale in Lightspeed Retail

  2. Click the Credit Book menu button

  3. Enter the amount the customer wants to add to the credit book

  4. Click Top Up and confirm the action

  5. Complete the retail sale by clicking payment, entering the payment method and choose Finalize

Lightspeed Restaurant:

  1. On a new table attach the customer and click Pay

  2. Choose your Loyalty payment method, which may be named Loyalty or Account Summary

    1. If you are unsure which payment method to use in your Restaurant back office go to Payments - Payment Types and click on a payment method to view the payment type. The payment type you are looking for is "Loyalty"

  3. A pop up will appear and choose Resulto Golf Credit Book

  4. Enter the amount the customer wants to add and click Top Up

  5. Choose the payment method, then Finalize the sale
