How to Properly Test Your TapDot Sample Pack

This article shows how to test your TapDot sample—especially on fabric chairs—for best adhesion and performance.

Updated this week

Testing your TapDot sample pack is the best way to see how it performs in your environment before placing a full order. Follow these steps to get the most accurate results—especially when applying to fabric chairs.

1. Choose the Right Chair

Pick a chair that’s representative of where you plan to place TapDots in your space. Ideally, select a spot that gets typical use—like a chair in your auditorium or sanctuary.

2. Clean the Area

Wipe down the fabric where you’ll apply the TapDot. Even fabric collects dust and oils that can affect adhesion. A dry cloth or lint roller can help prep the surface.

3. Peel and Stick Carefully

Remove the TapDot from its backing, avoiding direct contact with the adhesive. Press it firmly onto the chair in your chosen spot.

4. Apply Firm Pressure

Hold the TapDot in place with firm, even pressure for 15–30 seconds. Make sure the adhesive has full contact with the surface, especially if the fabric has texture or padding.

5. Let It Set

Leave the TapDot undisturbed for several hours. Avoid pressing or tapping it repeatedly during this time—it needs a chance to cure fully.

6. Test the Tap

After it’s had time to bond, use a smartphone to tap and test the connection. Make sure the placement is visible, scannable, and practical for your environment.

7. Check for Longevity

Over the next few days, observe how well it stays adhered during regular use. If it holds strong and reads reliably, you're ready to move forward with full installation.
