Cialfo's Scattergram feature offers students and counselors a clear, intuitive 'map' of real university admissions decisions. The graph visualises past acceptances, denials, and waitlist outcomes based on each student's high school GPA and SAT or ACT scores. Selecting the 'Cialfo Network GPA 4.0' option provides an overview of students across the platform who applied to a specific university, while options such as Weighted GPA or ACT focus on data specific to your school.
The Scattergram on a university's details page visualises accepted student profiles. The Application History table beneath provides a year-by-year breakdown of application outcomes for the school's students.
Note: Scattergram data points only appear when 3 or more data points are available for a university. If your school has fewer than 3 application records for a given university, the Scattergram may not display.
Can I see only my school's data on the Scattergram?
Yes. Use the axis selector to switch between Cialfo Network GPA 4.0 (all schools on the platform) and your school-specific options such as Weighted GPA, ACT, or other score types. Selecting a school-specific option shows only your school's students' data. This can be managed under your school's 'configuration's page.
To see application history specific to your school, check the Application History table below the Scattergram, this is already filtered to your school's students by default.
Features of the Scattergram
Better Data Point Breakdown: Comprehensive breakdown by Rounds and Outcomes — supporting tailored counseling guidance based on specific scenarios.
1-Axis Scattergram: Focus on a single test type — replacing the previous requirement to always include two test types.
Test-Submitted-Only Option: Display data only for scores marked as submitted to universities, for more accurate outcome reflection.
Flexible Axis Configuration: Customise axis ranges per test type — saved for all future Scattergrams you view.
Scattergram Default Settings
By default, the Scattergram displays SAT vs GPA. To change the default for your whole school: Configuration > Scattergram Default Settings.
The Default Graduation Year range controls which years of data are shown. The minimum data points for Scattergram results to show to students and guardians is 3 — this protects student privacy.
Pro Tip: Cialfo offers an option to combine and convert SAT scores to ACT and vice versa for more comprehensive reporting.
Viewing Admission Decisions
Scattergrams include symbols for: Accepted, Accepted (ED), Accepted (EA), Waitlisted - Accepted, Deferred - Accepted, Denied, Denied (EA), Denied (ED), Waitlisted - Denied, Deferred - Denied, Waitlisted, and Deferred.
Admission Results only display when there are at least 3 data points available. The minimum refers to the total of all outcome types — excluding categories with fewer than 3 of each Accepted or Denied result individually.
Pro Tip: Zoom in on data by clicking, holding, and dragging over the area you wish to view. Click 'Reset Zoom' to return to full view.
How to download Scattergram data
Click the download button in the top right corner and select PDF, JPEG, or PNG format.
Activating the Cialfo Scattergram Network Data
If your university acceptance data is limited and you'd like to include network data from other Cialfo schools, activate this under Configuration → Scattergram Cialfo Network Data. You can also configure whether staff members, students, and guardians can view this data.
