Why does CicloZone use BLE only, not ANT+?

Why CicloZone uses Bluetooth FTMS — universal phone support with no extra adapters or antennas.

BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) is the modern standard for connected fitness — every iPhone and Android phone supports it natively, with no extra adapter or USB stick.

Why we chose BLE FTMS

  • No extra hardware in the studio — no ANT+/BLE bridge, no USB sticks, no antennas, no game pads.

  • Universal phone support — every modern iPhone and Android already has BLE.

  • Industry standard — BLE FTMS is the international Bluetooth-SIG standard for indoor cycling equipment.

  • Single connection for power, cadence, heart rate, and resistance.

  • Vendor neutral — works across Stages, Matrix, Life Fitness, Schwinn, Keiser M3i, Zycle, Wahoo, BodyBike, Energym and many others.

The cost of ANT+

ANT+ requires specialised on-site hardware:

  • USB ANT+ sticks

  • Wireless ANT+/BLE bridges

  • Per-bike ANT+ cadence sensors

  • Branded receiver stands (e.g. ICG WASP antennas wired with CAT6)

That adds installation cost, ongoing maintenance, and friction. Most ANT+-only bikes today are legacy or sit inside closed ecosystems like Technogym.

What about Technogym?

Technogym bikes sit inside a closed ecosystem and aren't currently supported. Email hello@ciclozone.com to discuss options for your fleet.
