Creating a workpaper

Written by Hannah Olsson

Administrators, Managers, and Users can create workpapers.

Step 1: Open the new workpaper screen

You can start from a few different places:

  • Go to Workpapers in the top navigation, then select New Workpaper in the top right.

  • From an entity or group overview screen, select New Workpaper.

Step 2: Configure workpaper settings

Entity

Select the entity from the dropdown.

ℹ️ Note: If the entity hasn't been set up yet, you'll need to create it before proceeding.

Workpaper Type

Select the workpaper type. Available options are:

  • Annual Compliance

  • Fringe Benefits Tax (Beta)

  • Business Activity Statements (Beta)

  • Individual Tax Returns (Beta)

ℹ️ Note: Not all workpaper types are available for every entity. For example, you cannot create an Individual Tax Returns workpaper for a company.

Your selection determines the leadsheet used in the workpaper:

Select your Trial Balance Source: choose between an imported CSV or Xero.

⚠️ Xero not showing as an option? Go to the entity's settings and check that the Xero integration is linked.

Carry Forward

Toggle Carry Forward on to bring forward work from a prior period workpaper. Select the prior workpaper from the dropdown.

ℹ️ Note: Only prior period workpapers of the same workpaper type will appear in the dropdown

Fill in the following fields:

  • Period Start Date and Period End Date

  • Due Date

  • Name

  • Procedure Template

  • Checklist Template

  • Other Schedule Template (optional)

  • Materiality Limit (optional)

Step 4: Assign users and access settings

Approvers is the only required field. All other assignments are optional. You can assign more than one person to each role.
