Circolo allows you to choose how attendees receive confirmation of their booking by setting a Default Ticket Type for your event.
There are two ticket type options:
Ticket with QR Code
Booking Confirmation Only
The Default Ticket Type is selected when creating an event and can also be changed for individual ticket tiers.
Ticket with QR Code
Ticket with QR Code is the standard option for events where attendees need a scannable ticket for entry.
When this option is selected:
Attendees receive a ticket with a unique QR code
The ticket can be accessed from My Tickets in the Attendee Portal
The QR code can be scanned at the event using the Circolo Scanning App
The attendee's check-in will be recorded within Circolo
This option is best suited to events where tickets need to be scanned upon entry.
Booking Confirmation Only
Booking Confirmation Only can be used when you need to record a booking or attendance without issuing a scannable ticket.
When this option is selected:
The purchase confirms the attendee's booking
No PDF ticket containing a QR code will be sent with the booking confirmation email
The attendee does not receive a QR code for scanning at the event
The attendee can still be manually checked in through Guest Management if required
This option is useful for events or ticket types where a QR code is not required for entry.
Selecting the Default Ticket Type When Creating an Event
When creating a new event, you will see the Default Ticket Type setting.
Select one of the following:
Ticket with QR Code
Booking Confirmation Only
The option selected here will become the default ticket type for the event and its ticket tiers.
Setting a Different Ticket Type for an Individual Ticket Tier
You can override the event's Default Ticket Type for individual ticket tiers.
This allows the same event to have some ticket tiers with QR codes and others that provide booking confirmation only.
To Change the Ticket Type for a Ticket Tier:
Go to Ticket Management within your event
Find the ticket tier you want to update
Click “Edit”
Scroll down to Ticket Type
Select:
Ticket with QR Code, or
Booking Confirmation Only
Save your changes
The Ticket Type will initially default to the option selected when the event was created, but it can be changed individually for each ticket tier.
Using Different Ticket Types Within the Same Event
Ticket Types can be configured independently for each ticket tier.
For example, an event could have:
A General Admission tier using Ticket with QR Code for scanning at entry
A Registration Only tier using Booking Confirmation Only where a scannable ticket is not required
This gives you flexibility to determine how different types of attendees are managed within the same event.
What Attendees Will Receive
The attendee experience will differ depending on the Ticket Type selected.
With Ticket with QR Code:
The attendee receives confirmation of their purchase
Their ticket includes a QR code for event entry
Their ticket and QR code are available through My Tickets
With Booking Confirmation Only:
The attendee receives confirmation of their booking
No PDF ticket with a QR code is included with the booking confirmation email
Their booking will display differently within My Tickets because there is no QR code required for entry
Choosing the Right Ticket Type
Selecting the appropriate Ticket Type ensures attendees receive the correct type of confirmation for your event.
Use Ticket with QR Code when attendees need to be scanned into the event using the Circolo Scanning App.
Use Booking Confirmation Only when the booking itself is sufficient and a scannable QR code is not required.
