How do I add, view, edit, and delete Mention Streams?

Mention Streams are real-time results of Print, Online, TV, Radio, Podcast and Social news items

This video covers the functionality outlined in this guide:

Creating a Mention Stream

Mention Streams can be created in three ways, by clicking on the Action Button on the Launchpad, ✚ button on the purple sidebar, or by scrolling to the end of your Mention Streams and clicking ‘Create a New Mention Stream in this Group’.

You can populate your new Mention Stream using a simple Keyword Search or Advanced Keyword Search (this includes Boolean).

Building a Mention Stream using a Keyword Search

To begin building your Mention Stream, input your keyword(s).

  • Search will allow you to input your keywords. There is a ‘Must Include All Of These Terms’, ‘AND ANY Of These Terms’, ‘NOT These Terms’

  • There is a Boolean Query Preview to see your Keyword(s) search as a Boolean Search which can be copied/pasted.

  • Once your keywords have been entered, use the Across These Media Types’ area to select the news sources you are interested in monitoring.

  • If your goal is to pull coverage from specific sources, add them in the Include/Exclude Sources’ fields.

The lightning icon is where can apply filters to our Boolean search. For example, case sensitivity or coverage by a specific author.

AI Keywords FAQ

We can select the Media Types we’d like the Mention Stream to track.

Include/Exclude Sources

When using the Include Sources filter, you add the specific source(s) you would like to see coverage from.

You will see results with the names of matching outlets and to the right, the media type will be displayed. For example, BBC is a Source Group, Online, Radio and TV. When selecting specific sources, please pay attention to the media type displayed on the right and ensure you have selected the appropriate Media Types in the Media Type Filters.

When using the Include Source filter, some outlets will display ‘Source Group’ next to them. Source Groups act as parent publishers that individual sources may be a part of (News Corp, ABC, etc).

For example, if you only want to see coverage from BBC Future (an Online source), you would need to ensure that only Online is is selected in your Media Type filters.
