Citera connects to Shopify through a private custom app, so no App Store listing is needed. You can connect one or more stores.
Once connected, Citera can read your products, and write back blog posts and optimized product content. Product page optimization is available on Scale and above.
Create the custom app
In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps and allow custom app development.
Open the Shopify Dev Dashboard (dev.shopify.com/dashboard), click Create app and give it a name, for example "Citera Integration".
In App Settings → Admin API integration, add the Admin API access scopes shown in Citera's setup screen, then save.
In the Dev Dashboard, select your store and click Install.
In App Settings, copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
The Client Secret is shown only once. Store it securely. If you lose it, you'll need to delete and recreate the app.
Connect in Citera
Go to Settings → Integrations → Shopify.
Choose your app type:
Client ID and Client Secret (created in the Dev Dashboard, standard for new stores), or
Static Access Token (legacy apps created directly in Shopify Admin)
Enter your store handle or full myshopify.com URL and your credentials.
Citera checks the credentials and confirms when your store is connected.
Choose which Shopify blog Citera should publish to.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting stops Citera from writing to your store; content already written isn't affected. To fully revoke access, also delete the custom app in your Shopify Dev Dashboard.
