1. Check your plan's scan frequency
Automatic scans run weekly on Starter, every other day on Scale and daily on Custom. Analytics refresh on a daily run. If your last scan was recent, new data appears after the next scheduled scan and refresh.
2. Check that automated scans are switched on
Scans and email notifications are configured per brand. Open Settings for the brand and check that automated scans are enabled. Remember to check each brand separately.
3. Check the right brand is selected
Data is shown for the brand selected in the sidebar.
4. Check your scan allowance
If you've used your plan's scans for the period, Citera tells you. The allowance resets at the start of the next period. Upgrade for more frequent scans.
5. Check your prompts
Every visibility number is measured against your Prompt Library. If you recently edited prompts, results for new prompts appear after they've been scanned. If metrics show as not scanned, regenerate prompts so their text matches scanned queries.
6. "Model returned no answer"
Sometimes a model returns no answer. Citera shows a dash rather than 0% in that case. It usually resolves on the next scan.
7. Organic traffic data missing
The Organic traffic view needs Google Search Console and/or Google Analytics 4. Check the integration is connected and synced, and that you chose the correct property. The first sync runs within a few minutes of connecting.
8. Website audit not changed
Audits re-run every seven days. After shipping fixes, use the audit button on the Website page to force a fresh crawl.
9. Remember that answers vary
AI answers change from run to run. A flat or noisy week is normal; look at trends across several scans.
