How do I apply for SIL (funding)?

If you need SIL supports in your plan, we can work with you to create a SIL funding submission, which outlines the cost of supports needed to help build your capacity and live more independently. The SIL submission is then submitted to the NDIA for review.

On approval, we would then be able to work with you to transition into your new independent living arrangements and start providing the supports outlined in your plan.

A SIL application needs to contain a number of detailed documents, and shows the NDIA that moving into a SIL home is the best option for you. In order to apply for SIL, you will need:

  • Goals and outcomes relating to SIL in your plan. If you don't already have this, you can request a plan review or wait until your plan expires.

  • A functional assessment outlining your support and housing needs.

  • Evidence that you have explored other options and that moving into a group home is the best option for you

  • A letter of offer from the SIL service provider.
