This guide will provide tips on how to use our in-game supports that scaffold the student learning experience.
Text-to-Speech, Replay, and Retake can be turned on and off from your class page. You may choose to allow access to these tools only for specific students or for the whole class. Read below to learn more about each of them.
Text-to-Speech: If enabled from your class page, text-to-speech (TTS) enables a read-aloud option that students can use when needed. When active, your students can opt to have the text read to them inside the game. To activate TTS, click the center “play” button next to any text (1), choose a voice (2), and click the “Make this my voice” button. The text will play automatically. To hear the TTS at a slower pace, click the smaller “play” button in a circle.
Translation: All text in the game can be translated into over 100 languages. To translate within a dialog, students should click on the “globe” button next to each dialog response (1), select the language from the drop-down menu that appears (2), and click the “Translate this text” button (3). This will translate the entire response in one click underneath “Translated text”. Each translated text can also be read aloud in the selected language as text-to-speech by clicking on the play button next to the translated text.
Retake: If enabled from your class page, students can retake the assessment portion of a game by clicking on the “Retake Main” button. The score listed (e.g., ⅜) tells the student how many answers they got correct on their latest attempt.
Replay: If enabled from your class page, students will be able to replay any game as many times as they’d like.
Locking Game Access: If you decide to limit class access to certain games, students will see that the “Play Game” button says “Locked.” By default, all games will be open to students. To change this setting, navigate to the Classes tab and click the three dots to the right of the class you would like to limit access for, then click “Episode Access.” From the pop-up that appears, access can be turned on and off for an entire series or just specific games.
