Position cap

Limit how many positions an account holds at once, what counts as a position, and which signals still trade when the account is full.

The position cap limits how many positions an account holds at the same time. Set it to 2, and of ten signals arriving together, two open a position. It is off until you set it, and unlike the daily limits it never locks the account.

Set it

  1. Open the account's settings: press the cog at the top right of the account's page. Pressing its Position cap on a desktop, or Account limits on a phone, opens them too.

  2. Under Position cap, switch on Cap.

  3. Set the number with − and +, up to 50.

  4. Press SAVE.

On the Matrix, an account with a cap shows how full it is, such as 2/2; on a phone, only once it is full. On a desktop, press it, then Change the cap.

What counts as a position

  • Each contract the account holds counts once, whatever its size: 5 MNQ is one position, and MNQ and MES are two.

  • Positions you opened yourself count too.

  • Only one agent at a time can hold a product on an account, so a full account holds that many different things. See One agent per product.

When the account is full

  • A signal that would open something new is skipped, and Activity says account full. It isn't kept for later.

  • A signal for something the account already holds still trades, so adding, taking some off, reversing and closing are never blocked.

  • The cap never stops a flatten.

  • As soon as a position closes, there is room again, and the next signal for something new can open one. Whichever comes first takes the room.

On a desktop, a full account says holding 2 of 2 — full. Its settings say so too, on a phone or a desktop.
