In order to grant Clearit the authority to transact with U.S. Customs on your behalf, a power of attorney form must be completed. Don't worry, you're not granting us power to control your estate, just the ability to work with customs πŸ˜€

Step 1.

In order to properly appoint Clearit as your Customs Broker, you must have authority to grant it. If this is a personal import, there are no consideration however, if you are importing on behalf of a company, you should be in one of the following positions:

  • President

  • Vice president

  • Treasurer

  • Corporate Secretary

  • or have been granted authority by the company to enter into binding agreements

In most cases, if you can sign a check, you can sign a power of attorney. If you do not have authority to grant the power of attorney, you can easily forward the signature to someone who does by clicking "no" and entering the name and email of the person who does.

Step. 2

By clicking "yes" to having authority to grant the Power of attorney, Clearit is using the information entered at sign up to fill the power of attorney form. You can review the information entered and make updates prior to continuing.

Step 3.

Next, you will enter the information of a witness. A witness is required to execute a Customs power of attorney and will receive a link to add their signature to the witness portion only once the signer (or grantor) has completed their portion of the power of attorney. It is important to alert your appointed witness that their signature is required.

**it is recommended that the assigned witness does not complete their power of attorney on the same computer or device as the original signer (grantor)

Step 4.

The final step is to place your signature, date and title on the power of attorney form. Once you (or the assigned grantor) has done so, please scroll to the bottom of the page and click "sign document"

Congratulations!

You have completed the power of attorney and an email link has been sent to your witness to place their signature as well. Once the witness has signed, our agents will review the document and vet it with U.S. Customs. Please note, in some cases users will be asked to provide additional verification such as a business card or documentation showing you or your company are in good standing.

**Please note, the power of attorney signature requirements will vary for non-resident importers. Additional fields for the witness may be required.
