Location Restrictions

Find out more about our Location Restriction settings

Updated over 6 months ago

At Click Guardian, we’re always evolving our feature set to give you greater control over your ad spend and protection against fraudulent clicks. One such feature is Location Restrictions, which allows you to manage where your paid clicks come from based on geographic regions.

Whether you want to limit your campaigns to specific countries or block regions known for high click fraud, Location Restrictions adds a valuable layer of targeting and defence.

What Is the Location Restrictions Feature?

Location Restrictions lets you control which countries are allowed—or not allowed—to generate paid ad clicks on your site. You can:

  • Block paid clicks from selected countries

  • Only allow paid clicks from selected countries

This ensures your ads are only shown to users in regions that align with your business goals, and helps you avoid traffic from locations known for fraudulent behaviour or low conversion potential.

How to Use It

To activate the feature:

  1. Go to your Settings and locate the Location Restrictions section.

  2. Toggle the feature to On.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    • Block paid clicks from: Select countries you want to exclude.

    • Only allow paid clicks from: Select countries you want to include.

  4. Click Save Location Restrictions Options to apply your changes.

You must select at least one of the two options for the feature to take effect.

Example Use Cases

  • Allow only the UK: If your business only serves customers in the United Kingdom, select “United Kingdom” under Only allow paid clicks from. This blocks all paid clicks from outside the UK.

  • Block specific countries: If you're receiving high volumes of low-quality traffic from certain regions, select them under Block paid clicks from to prevent future clicks from those areas.

This helps improve the relevance and quality of the traffic reaching your site, while reducing wasted ad spend.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The feature applies only to paid ad clicks—organic traffic remains unaffected.

  • Make sure your targeting in ad platforms (e.g. Google Ads) aligns with your Location Restrictions to avoid unnecessary impressions or disapprovals.

  • You can update or change your location lists at any time.
