Overview

Lead Sources in SalesExec represent the specific origin or provider of your leads (for example, a lead broker, PPC provider, or form submitter). You configure them after defining your Marketing Channels to track where leads really come from and enable precise attribution. Navigate to More → Settings → Setup Marketing Channels, Lead Sources & Campaigns.

Key Functionality

  • Lead Source Creation: Add new sources for segmentation and attribution.

  • Ownership Assignment: Set the source owner at either the corporate or branch level, determining who can use it.

  • Source Visibility: Control whether a source is available for all users or restricted to a branch.

  • Attribution Structure: Tie each lead source to a marketing channel to ensure correct reporting flows.

How to Use This Feature

Note: ClickPoint doesn’t prevent you from using the same Marketing Channel, Lead Source or Campaign names. However, it is best practice to keep these unique.

  • Select More on the left-hand side tool bar, then select Settings and then Setup Marketing Channels, Lead Sources and Campaigns.

  • On this screen, you can add and edit Marketing Channels, Lead Sources, and Campaigns. You can toggle between the three in the upper right corner. For now, select Lead Source.

  • Select Add Source located in the upper left-hand corner.

  • Enter your Lead Source Name and select an Owner.

Adding a Lead Source

Note: Selecting the correct owner is especially important. When the owner is the corporate level, all users within your organization can use them when manually adding leads. Set a branch owner if you wish for only those users under that branch, to have access.

Best Practices

  • Use clear, distinct names for lead sources (e.g., “Google Ads (Search)” vs “Facebook Leads”) to avoid reporting confusion.

  • Match the ownership setting to how the source is used — corporate-level for general sources, branch-level for more specific ones.

  • Keep your list of sources trimmed to only the ones you actually use, so users aren’t overwhelmed.

  • Train your team to always select the correct Lead Source when creating or importing leads, for accurate attribution.

Troubleshooting

  • New Source Not Showing → Make sure you actually clicked “Save” and that you’re viewing the correct tab.

  • Wrong Ownership Assigned → Edit the source and change the owner to the right corporate or branch level.

  • Duplicate Source Names → Even though the system may allow duplicates, avoid using identical names to prevent confusion in reporting.

  • Leads Not Attributed Correctly → Ensure that the source is properly linked to a marketing channel and that users select it during lead creation.
