In Step 4, you will have the option to link your bank accounts and investment accounts (if your advisor has enabled this feature). To facilitate these links, Planworth's Client Discovery tool utilizes a third party service provider, Flinks.

1. What is Flinks and how does it work?

Flinks is the service provider Planworth's Client Discovery tool selected to handle the instant transfer of financial information from your retail banking and investment accounts directly to your advisor. This secure and convenient process replaces more traditional methods such as emailing your bank and investment statements.

You can link a retail or investment account utilizing Flinks in Step 4 (Account Entry). You will have the option of selecting to link a retail or investment account (or entering an account manually). Once linked, you (through the Client Portal) and your advisor will be able to view an updated account balance (as per the closing balance on the previous day).

2. How does Flinks address security?

You can find out more about Flinks security measures by clicking here.

3. What is the difference between linking a retail banking account and an investment account?

Chances are you have two types of financial accounts—a retail banking account, and an investment account. The Client Discovery tool will allow you to link a retail account or investment account:

Link Retail Account

You use your retail banking account to receive deposits and deal with basic everyday transactions. For example, a bank account with a large financial institution would likely be linked through the "Link Retail Account" button. In some instances when you have linked your investment accounts with your retail bank account login, Flinks will also import your investment accounts associated with that financial institution.

Link Investment Account

You use your investment account (or accounts) to buy stocks, invest in your RRSP, etc. When you connect an investment account, your advisor receives everything they need to understand your investments. For example, a RRSP with a direct investing account at a financial institution would likely be linked through the "Link Investment Account" button.

4. What are the steps involved to link an account?

a) Select an Institution

You will first select the appropriate institution or firm:

b) Consent/Sign-In/Security Questions

You will provide the appropriate consents and then login utilizing the applicable login/password. As part of this you may be required to enter answers to security questions or multi factor authentication (e.g., text message).

When you link a retail account or investment account, there may be a noticeable delay when linking the account(s). It may take up to five minutes to complete the connection. During this time, you should not refresh the page as it will require to restart the process.

c) Tiles Created/Information Confirmation

Once you have successfully linked accounts, the Client Discovery tool will create tiles for each account. You will then need to confirm the ownership and other details for each tile and save that information. You can edit a tile/account by clicking on the "pencil" icon in the tile.

d. Repeat for Additional Accounts at Other Firms and Partner Accounts

You can then click the "Add/Link Account" button again to add additional accounts at other institutions/firms. You can also have your partner (if applicable) log in to their accounts utilizing the same link.

e. Stopping the Connection

You can stop a connection by clicking on the "pencil" icon in the tile. You can then stop the connection pressing DELETE.

5. Do I need to utilize Flinks account aggregation functions?

No, you do not need to utilize Flinks account aggregation functions to create a net worth statement. You can add accounts manually utilizing the "Add Account Manually" button.
