Scope 3.3 emissions are the emissions generated during the production and transportation of fuels and electricity consumed in Scopes 1, 2 and 3.1. Whereas in Scopes 1, 2 and 3.1 we count what’s emitted when you burn fuels to make energy either directly or through the production of electricity, these upstream emissions include things like line loss and the energy it takes to mine and refine fossil fuels (before they are burned).

We do not expect you to have data to refine this category. Instead, you will edit Scopes 1, 2 and 3.1 and we’ll do the math here for you based on what we know about how energy is produced and transported.
