Collecting data to measure your Scope 3 emissions can be a daunting task, especially if you are measuring for the first time.

You should thoroughly review the detailed data list in preparation for data collection and before you begin measurement. Once you are ready to reach out to your suppliers, contract manufacturers, and distribution partners for data you can refer to the template below to make your data requests with those parties.

A key factor here is to explain your purpose -- you’re getting Climate Neutral certified and this is all about understanding your carbon footprint.

  • Their total fuel and electricity consumption should be divided according to the total share of their production represented by your products. If you represent 20% of a factory’s output and their total kWh consumption is 20,000 kWh, they should report 4,000 kWh to you. They do not need to give you totals or reveal how much of their production you represent.

  • You can also copy tabs from the linked workbook in the BEE to show them templates for data aggregation.
