Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is resulting in clinical rotation changes. As schools and clinical sites adapt plans for student rotations, we are working to provide tools to help you reflect these changes in Clinician Nexus.

After reading this article you will be able to...

  • Pause a Rotation

  • Resume a Rotation

  • Mark a Rotation as Complete

  • Cancel a Rotation

  • Additional Information

Pause a Rotation

If a student's rotation is in Onboarding, Ready, or Active status and needs to be suspended with the possibility of resuming in the future, you can pause the rotation. When a rotation is paused, there are options to resume, mark as complete, or close it once decisions have been made.

Pause an Active Rotation:

  • On the Rotations page, click on the Active rotation you intend to pause.

  • Click Pause rotation in the top right corner of the window.

  • Provide an explanation for why the rotation is paused. This message will be communicated with all parties on the rotation.

  • Click Pause rotation

  • The rotation will now display in a Paused status on your Rotations page.

Once a rotation is Paused, it remains on the rotations page indefinitely, regardless of dates specified on the rotation, until someone manually resumes, marks complete, or cancels the rotation.

Resume a Rotation

If a paused rotation is ready to continue, you can resume the rotation by opening the paused rotation window on the rotations page:

  • Click Resume rotation button.

  • Select a new end date for the rotation.

  • You can optionally add a comment about this update.

  • Click Resume rotation.

  • All parties on the rotation will be notified about this update, and the rotation will display in Active status on your Rotations page.

Mark a Rotation as Complete

If it's decided a student's time spent rotating prior to pausing qualifies as a completed rotation, you can mark a Paused rotation Complete.

  • Open the Rotation on your rotations page

  • Click Complete rotation

  • Select the rotation's end date.

  • You can optionally add a comment about this update.

  • Click Complete rotation.

  • All parties on the rotation will be notified about this update, and the rotation will display in Completed status on your Rotations page.

Cancel a Rotation

If a paused rotation will not resume, nor will it qualify as a completed rotation, you can cancel the paused rotation.

  • Open the Rotation on your rotations page

  • Click Cancel rotation

  • Select the reason why the rotation is closing

  • You can optionally add a comment about the rotation cancellation.

  • Click Cancel rotation

  • All parties on the rotation will be notified about this update, and the rotation will display in Closed status on your Rotations page.
