How to Connect CloudSee Drive to Claude

Connect CloudSee Drive to Claude to search and manage your Amazon S3 files.

Written by Daniela Camargo

Storing files in Amazon S3 is easy. Finding them isn't. The CloudSee Drive connector brings CloudSee's Fast Buckets search into Claude. You can search across millions of objects in a second. For example, you can ask for files by name or tags and get results back in the conversation.

It works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile. There's nothing to install and no API keys. You simply sign in with your CloudSee Drive account.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A CloudSee Drive subscription, available in AWS Marketplace. Learn more at cloudseedrive.com

  • At least one Amazon S3 bucket connected to CloudSee Drive

  • A Claude account (any plan)

Connect CloudSee Drive

  1. Open Connectors: In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors.

  2. Select Browse connectors and search for CloudSee Drive.

  3. Connect: Select Connect. The CloudSee sign-in page opens.

  4. Sign In: Use your CloudSee Drive credentials (email/password, Google, or Microsoft).

  5. Approve Access: Review the permissions and select Approve.

  6. Confirm: You're returned to Claude with CloudSee Drive connected.

Permission

What it lets Claude do

View files and folders

Browse, search, and read file details and tags

Download files

Create short-lived download links

Upload and change files

Upload, create folders, rename, move, share, and update details

Delete files

Permanently delete files, after your confirmation

On a Team or Enterprise plan? An organization Owner may need to add the connector first under Admin settings → Connectors. After that, each member selects Connect and signs in with their own CloudSee account.

Try It Out

Start a new chat and try:

  • "Using CloudSee Drive, list my drives."

  • "Find all PDFs with 'invoice' in the name."

  • "Find files tagged department=finance."

  • "Show me the files changed this week."

  • "Create a share link for budget.csv that expires in 7 days."

  • "Move last month's reports into the Archive folder."

Choose When Claude Asks for Approval

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors → CloudSee Drive.

  2. Tools are grouped into Read-only and Write/delete. For each group, or for individual tools, choose Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked.

Built-in safety: Claude asks for your confirmation before it deletes, moves, or overwrites anything.

What You Can Do

Search and browse

  • Search for files & folders across your drives, by name or tag

  • Browse drives and folders

  • See recently modified files

  • View file details: size, dates, storage class, metadata and tags

Retrieve and share

  • Create shareable links with a pre-signed URL and expiry date.

Create and organize

  • Create folders and upload small files (up to 256 KB)

  • Rename, move, copy and duplicate files

  • Update a file's project, category, description and tags

Archive and delete

  • Restore archived files from S3 Glacier

  • Delete files and folders, after confirmation

Security and Data Handling

  • Your permissions apply: Claude works within your CloudSee Drive permissions. It sees only the drives & folders your account can access.

  • Your files stay in your S3 buckets: The connector passes requests between Claude and CloudSee Drive. It does not copy or store files, file names or metadata.

  • CloudSee handles sign-in: You sign in on CloudSee Drive's own page. Claude never sees your password.

  • Links expire: Download links expire on their own. Share links have an expiry date and can be revoked early.

  • Revoke anytime: Go to Settings → Connectors → CloudSee Drive → Disconnect. Access ends immediately, and reconnecting requires signing in again.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Fix

Claude can't reach your drives, or shows an "authorization failed" or "API key not recognized" error

Disconnect the connector in Settings → Connectors, then connect again and sign in.

Claude says you don't have permission for an action

Your CloudSee role doesn't allow that action on this drive. Ask your CloudSee admin.

A rename, move or delete hasn't shown up yet

These run in the background and usually finish within 1–2 minutes. Ask Claude to list the folder again.

A file you just uploaded doesn't show up in search

New files can take a few minutes to be indexed. Ask Claude to "list all files" in that folder instead.

A download link doesn't open

Links are short-lived. Ask Claude for a new one. Archived (Glacier) files need to be restored first.

Upload rejected as too large

Uploads through Claude are limited to 256 KB. Use the CloudSee Drive web app for larger files.

You can't see Add custom connector

On Team and Enterprise plans, only an Owner can add connectors. Ask your admin.

FAQ

  • Does it cost extra? No. The connector is included with your CloudSee Drive subscription.

  • Can I use it on mobile? Yes. Once connected, it works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile.

  • Can Claude delete my files? Only if your CloudSee role allows deleting on that drive, and only after you confirm.

  • Where are my files stored? In your own Amazon S3 buckets. The connector stores nothing.

  • How do I stop Claude's access? Disconnect the connector in Settings → Connectors. Access ends immediately.

  • Can I upload large files? Not through Claude; uploads are capped at 256 KB. Use the CloudSee Drive web app.

  • Can I run the connector locally instead? Yes. Developers can run it on their own machine with an API key. See How to Run the CloudSee Drive Connector Locally in Claude Desktop.
