There are two ways to set user access permissions for viewing AWS buckets in CloudSee Drive:

  • Global settings (default for all users).

  • Bucket-level settings (overrides for individual users).

Global Settings

Each CloudSee Drive user can be granted global permissions. Permissions will be applied to all buckets to which that user is granted access by following these steps:

  1. Select the Settings menu (gear icon in the upper right corner).

  2. Select CloudSee User Settings.

  3. Select the Actions menu adjacent to the desired user, then choose the Permissions menu option. A popup window will display.

  4. Assign the desired permissions (Read/Write/Delete).

  5. Select Update.

  6. To abandon changes, select Cancel.

Important details about global user permissions:

  • Any changes made to global permissions for a user will be applied to all buckets to which that user has access.

  • To configure permissions for users on a per-bucket basis, then uncheck all permissions in the steps above, then configure permissions using the Bucket-level settings (see below).

Bucket-level Settings

In order to configure permissions on a per-bucket and per-user basis, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Settings menu (gear icon in the upper right corner).

  2. Select CloudSee User Settings.

  3. Select the Actions menu adjacent to the desired user, then choose the Bucket Access menu option. A popup window will display.

  4. Select a bucket from the list on the left by clicking on a bucket name.

  5. Modify user permissions using the checkboxes on the right.

  6. Select Update.

  7. To abandon changes, select Cancel.

Important details about bucket-level user permissions:

  • If the checkbox next to a bucket name (e.g., in the screenshot above) is disabled (grayed out), it means that access to the bucket was configured globally. (See related article.) You can still modify user permissions for the bucket.

  • To only allow access to certain users, do not select those buckets for global display. Instead, grant access to them using Bucket-level permissions.
