Coach Paint First Steps

Config Editor
Take control of your Coach Paint experience with Config Editor. The Config Editor comes bundled with the software, enabling you to easily customize and adjust program configurations to suit your needs. Let's see some basic configurations that you need to know before starting:
Video Tab
Format
Another important parameter in the Video tab that you can check is the 'Format.' Here, you can specify the export format and the frame rate (fps) at which you want Coach Paint to export your videos.
Note: If you are running 9.7 or newest, Coach Paint will transcode the imported videos for you.
Audio tab
Select if you want your videos to have Audio at the time to be exported. Please refer to the "How to export your videos with the original audio?" article.
Note: In the Coach Paint 9.7 version, the audio has been deactivated and will be brought back in future versions.
Clip Import/Export
Set your standard export and import folders. This way, the program will always look for clips in the specified import path and attempt to export them to the designated export path.

How to Import a Clip?

Right-click on any empty slot on the clip banks and select "Import a clip":
The following pop-up will appear. Search for the video that you want to import and then click on "Open".
Note: We recommend disabling the "Match Video Format" and the "Split Clip" to have a simpler experience with the product. If you are using the newest 9.7 version you can dismiss this message.Well done! now you are able to start telestrating!

Steps:
Once you have a long clip, go to the frame where you want your new clip to start.
Click on the Exit Clip button. The Mark In/Out tools will turn from green to white.
Click on the Mark In tool where you want the new clip to start. It will turn green.
Scroll forward in time until you reach the final frame of your desired clip.
Click on the Mark Out tool. It will turn green and the slots on your bank will start flashing.
Select an available slot and the clip will be created!
Chroma Key
For improving graphics quality, make sure to Chroma Key the field.
Calibration
Optimize your workflow with our innovative Pitch Calibration feature, enabling seamless and efficient interaction with your tools. Choose between manual adjustment for fine-tuning or automatic calibration for effortless optimization.
Automatic Calibration
If you are an Elite client, you can automatically calibrate the pitch when importing a clip.
Steps:
Open Coach Paint.
Import a clip
Make sure that the "Start Pitch Calibration" option is enabled.
Calibration is done
If you have forgotten to calibrate the clip when you imported it, you can automatically calibrate it once is uploaded.
Steps:
Open Coach Paint
Import a clip with the "Start Pitch Calibration" option disabled
Right-click on the clip
Select "Calibrate Pitch"
Calibration is done!
Manual Calibration
Refine your 3D tool control with our manual calibration, a precise, intuitive, and straightforward method for achieving optimal precision and ease of use.
Steps:
Open Coach Paint.
Recue your clip or go to its beginning.
On the top bar, you will see the Calibration tool next to the Chroma Key button. Select it.
A drawing of the pitch with squares in the intersections will pop up in the middle of the screen.
Click and drag 4 of the squares to their respective points on the clip’s field.
Once the 4 points are set, the yellow drawing must adjust to the actual size.
If the yellow drawing is slightly offset, manually adjust the squares that look off. If the yellow drawing shrinks and loses its proportions, click Undo twice and set the squares again.
Play the clip, pause, and make the needed square adjustments until its end. Notice you will have to adjust at least 2 points each time.
Once you’re done with the clip’s calibration. Review it and if you are happy with it click the Calibration button. The yellow lines will disappear, but the calibration button will remain green to let you know that the calibration is on.
Note: Even having the Auto-Calibration done, we recommend briefly checking the calibration and correcting it if it's a little off in some places.
How to place a tool?
Learn the simple steps to position any tool in your preview screen: select a tool from the tool administrator, click on the desired spot in the field, establish its duration by keyframing it (check out the title below for more details), save your changes, and enjoy the results.
What is a Keyframe?
A key frame is a drawing or shot that defines the starting and ending points of a smooth transition. These are called frames because their position in time is measured in frames on a strip of film or on a digital video editing timeline.
Keyframe tools will let you establish a start and a finish to the effect, also you will be able to move them through time.

How to export your clips?
Discover how to effortlessly export your finished work with our easy-to-follow video tutorial.
Steps:
Once you are done telestrating on your clip, right-click on it and select "Export Clip"
Set the destination and format you desire for your clip. *
Once you are happy with the destination and format of your clip, select Export.
Review your exported clip in the previously selected folder.
*Note: you can uncheck the Flatten option in order to be able to import it into another computer and keep editing it. You can also export a batch of clips using the Bulk Export option.
