Story Mentions

How to get set up and use story mentions.

Updated over 2 months ago

This feature allows you to view and analyze the content that fans are tagging your Artist in on Instagram. These videos are logged in a library that only you have access to, and are stored permanently so that you can view, analyze, and categorize content.

Story Mentions Benefits

Story Mentions allows you to easily browse and reach out to content owners for fan POV content for fan pages, identify fans that are actively engaging with you on Instagram, and lean into moments that are resonating with fans from a marketing perspective.

Use cases

  • After a show, this is a great place to browse curated content from the event. You can sort on song detected, to see which songs were most popular in shared content.

  • You can use the All Fans tab to identify high-reach and blue-tick verified fans who were there. This is a jumping off point to reach out to those fans as creators for future promotions, or simply as fans in any broader fan recognition strategies you have (be it exclusive event invites, early sound seeding, etc).

Over time, stories will accumulate, so we recommend using the Events folders to organize top content by theme or event.

Set Up Instructions

Please follow these steps to activate this feature. Note: you will require permission from the Instagram account owner to proceed.

  1. In the Instagram account, enable "Allow connected tool acccess" to messages. This will allow Cobrand to request access to extract Story Mentions.

  2. Create a Meta Business Portfolio containing the Instagram and Facebook accounts for the Artist, and ensure the Instagram and Facebook assets are connected within it. If a Portfolio already exists, simply request to be added to it as a Business Admin. Note: an Instagram account can only be attached to one Portfolio at a time (this is a Meta constraint).

  3. In Cobrand, click Authenticate Account in the Story Mentions page. Login to your account, and select the Artist Portfolio you wish to connect. Complete the steps, and don't forget to click "Done".

  4. Refresh the page, and click "Click Here" right beneath the Authenticate button. Select the Artist.

If you you don’t have Business Admin access to the account, but the Artist is willing to provide access by signing in directly themselves, you can reach out to Cobrand directly and we will generate a custom link you can send to them. They can perform the authentication steps to grant your access.

Disconnecting Story Mentions

Under Profile Settings, click the trash icon to remove the connection. The page will revert to a gated state, and you will no longer see Story content.
