Preparing a Google Doc for File Submission

What students should do if Google Doc is not an accepted file type

Purpose

This article explains how to download a Google Doc and submit it as an alternative if you're unable to submit the Google Doc directly to an assignment.

Procedure

  1. Create your assignment in Google Drive using Google Docs

  2. Click File in the upper left corner and select Download. Select Microsoft Word

    The document should go to the Download folder. You can also open the document by clicking the down arrow icon in the upper right of your screen and clicking the file name.

  3. Click the assignment link in Moodle.

  4. Click the Add submission button

  5. Click the file icon – the left icon in black

  6. Click Choose File

  7. Locate and select the file in your Downloads folder and click the Open button

  8. The file will appear next to the Choose File button. Click the Upload this file button

  9. Click the Save changes button

  10. Click the Submit assignment button and then click the Continue button on the next page OR your submission will remain in draft status
