Adding an HTML Block

Learn how to dress up your course page with custom text and media

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to add an HTML block to a course that will allow instructors to further personalize the course page

Procedure

  1. Make sure you are in Edit mode

    Button labeled Edit mode

  2. Click Add a block โ€“ top of side navigation bar

  3. Use the scroll bar to move to the bottom of the list and select Text (previously called HTML)

  4. It will most likely show up at the bottom of your side navigation pane โ€“ scroll down

  5. Click the gear icon in the new block and choose Configure (new text block) block

  6. Add a title and add text in the text box. Use the ribbon to change your font and to add media like a photo or GIF

  7. The placement options are already set to the right pane and canโ€™t be changed, so ignore the last two options and save your changes

  8. Move your HTML (Text) block to a different place in your side navigation panel by clicking the cross in the top right of the HTML (Text) block. This opens a list of placement options

  9. To select a location, click an option. In this case, the top option is selected. This will move the HTML (Text) block to the very top of the side navigation panel

  10. Below is a partial image of the HTML (Text) block at the top of the side navigation panel

  11. Return to the gear icon in the block to delete or hide the HTML (Text) block
