Adding Files and Folders to your Course

Learn how to add files and folders to your course as learning resources

Purpose

This article demonstrates how to add files and folders to a Moodle course for students to access as part of their learning.

Procedure

  1. Make sure you are in Edit mode.

  2. In the correct section of your course click the cross icon to add the resource.

  3. To add a file, click the File tile in the activity chooser.

  4. Add a name and (optional) description.

  5. Click the file icon to upload a file or drag the file to the file drop box.

  6. To upload a file, make sure Upload a file is selected and click the Choose File box.

  7. Locate the file on your computer, select it, and click Open.

  8. The file will display next to the Choose File button.

  9. Click Upload this file.

  10. The file will display.

  11. Scroll down and save your changes.

  12. Follow a similar procedure for adding a folder, but choose the Folder tile instead.

  13. Drag the files into the drop box.

  14. Save your changes.

  15. The folder will display on your course page.

  16. To delete a file in the folder, click on the folder and click the Edit button. Check the box next to the item you want to delete, and click the trashcan icon. Save your changes.
