Adding Files and Folders to your Course

Learn how to add files and folders to your course as learning resources

Purpose

This article demonstrates how to add files and folders to a Moodle course for students to access as part of their learning

Procedure

  1. Make sure you are in Edit mode

  2. In the correct section of your course click Add an activity or resource

  3. To add a file, click the File mini tile

  4. Add a name and (optional) description

  5. Click the file icon to upload a file or drag the file to the file drop box

  6. To upload a file, make sure Upload a file is selected and click the Choose File box

  7. Locate the file on your computer, select it, and click Open

  8. The file will display next to the Choose File button

  9. Click Upload this file

  11. Scroll down and save your changes

  12. Follow a similar procedure for adding a folder, but choose the Folder mini tile instead

  13. In the file picker step, you can drag the folder over or upload each file you want in the folder one at a time

  14. With folders, there is an additional step of deciding how you want the folder displayed

  15. Save your changes

  16. The folder will display on your course page

  17. If you choose the inline option, both files will display on the course page instead of as a folder link

  18. If you upload the wrong file, just click on it and a box will appear with a Delete button
