H5P Basics

Learn how to add various activities for low-stake assessment and practice.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to use the Moodle Content bank to add H5P activities.

Procedures

  1. Start in Edit mode.

    Edit mode toggled to on.

  2. Select the More tab on your course page.

  3. Select Content bank from the menu.

  4. Click the Add button.

  5. Scroll through the list to choose an activity type.

  6. Create your assignment. (Look for other Instructor Help docs to find the steps for creating different activities). Below is an image of different activities stored in an instructor Content bank.

  7. Return to your course page.

  8. Select the + sign where you want the activity in your course and then click Activity or resource.

  9. Select the H5P mini tile.

  10. Name the activity and (optional) add instructions.

  11. Open the File Picker.

  12. Select the Content bank.

  13. Select your file and then verify the selection by clicking the Select this file button in the pop-up box.

  14. Save your changes.

  15. In the assignment settings, set criteria as you normally would noting the H5P options and the Attempt options.

  16. Remember that H5P activities are informal assessments and activities to further engage students in topic content, e.g., interactive videos, crossword puzzles, drag and drop quizzes, flash cards, image sequencing, and more.
