Copyleaks Student View

Learn how to view the results of a Copyleaks scan.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to describe what Copyleaks does and how students can view the results of a Copyleaks scan.

About Copyleaks

If your instructor has enabled Copyleaks for an Assignment or Forum, your submission will be scanned for text that matches published sources, websites, and other documents. Copyleaks also analyzes the submission for the presence of AI-generated content.

If your instructor allows students to view scan results before submitting, a Copyleaks report will be available after the file is uploaded and still in Draft mode. The report displays a similarity score and highlights text that matches other sources. Select the report link to view detailed results and any sources identified by Copyleaks. Review the report carefully and withdraw your submission from Draft status for revisions if necessary.

The scan can take several minutes. Refresh the page after a few minutes to see if the scan is complete.

Procedure

Assignment

  1. Click the Assignment link on your course page.

  2. Upload your file or drag it over.

  3. Click the checkbox above the file submission box to agree to plagiarism detection. You will only need to do this one time; Moodle saves the agreement, and it covers all future submissions.

  4. Click Save changes.

  5. Do NOT click the Submit assignment button. Wait until the scan is complete.

  6. After a few minutes, refresh the page to see if the scan is finished.

  7. If the submission is still being scanned, you will see a message saying the scan is in process.

  8. Once the scan is complete, determine whether you wish to complete the submission process. In the picture below, note that the results below show 100% AI use and a score of 26% for plagiarism detection. Grammar corrections are marked N/A because the instructor did not set that feature.

  9. If you wish to remove the file and make revisions, click the Remove submission button.

Forum

  1. Click the Forum link on your course page.

  2. Type your comment in the text box and click the Post to forum button.

  3. Wait a few minutes and then click the link to your post. If the scan is complete, the scores will appear below the post.

  4. If the scan results prompt you to revise your comments, click the Delete link to remove the post. You can edit or delete forum posts for only 30 minutes.

Note

Copyleaks AI detection results are estimates and should not be considered definitive proof that content was or was not generated by artificial intelligence. If you have questions about your scan results or believe a result is inaccurate, contact your instructor to discuss the report and any course-specific requirements.
