Panopto: Course Setup (Block & External Tool)

Purpose

This article outlines the process of adding the Panopto Block and/or External Tool to a course.

Procedure

Are you starting to work on your courses for next semester? Do you plan on using Panopto? Here are a few things to remember...

  1. Request your course copy if you plan on using the content (including your Panopto videos) from a prior semester.

  2. If you are building your course from scratch, or planning to use Panopto for the first time, add the Panopto External Tool and Panopto Block to your course.

How to Add Panopto External Tool:

  1. Toggle Edit Mode On

  2. Select + Add an activity or resource

  3. Select Panopto

    Panopto Activity from the Activity chooser

  4. Give the new tool a name

  5. Do not select content.

    1. Selecting content will add a single video to your course

    2. By not selecting content you are adding the Panopto course folder for a centralized location to view all course videos.

      Select content button with a red X on top of it.

  6. Change the grade type to "None"

  7. Change the activity completion tracking to "Do not indicate..."

  8. Click Save and return to course

How to Add Panopto Block:

  1. Select Toggle Edit Mode On

  2. Select + Add a block

  3. Select Panopto

  4. Verify that the block was added to the right side of the course

  5. If needed, click on the link to provision the course
