Purpose
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to set up categories and weights in the gradebook
Note
Reference your syllabus as you set up your course gradebook. Matching the categories and weights in your course gradebook to your course syllabus is essential.

Move a Single Item/category
Move a Single Item/category
Click on the two-sided arrow to the left of the item you want to move. This will expand your Gradebook setup page with spaces where you can select the new location of the item
βClick on the dashed line at the point where you want to insert the item. See the illustration below. Pay attention to the indentations of the lines. A slightly indented line indicates placement under the above category. A dashed line with no indent indicates the same level as a category.
Your item should now have moved to your chosen location in the gradebook.
You can also move categories around using this method. Make sure to select the long dashed line that is on the same level as the other categories or you will move a category within another category.
3. Repeat until your Gradebook is organized.

Type in the weight
Click on Save changes at the bottom of the page in the sticky footer.
Keep the box checked so any further weight changes will not affect the weights you adjusted.
A message will appear at the top indicating that weights have been adjusted to total 100. Any weights that were not checked will be adjusted.
