Assignment - Reopen as a Draft

Learn how a student can delete a submission and upload new materials

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to revert an assignment drop box to draft status thus allowing students to resubmit an assignment.

Procedure

  1. On your course homepage, click on the assignment that you’ll need to update for the student(s)

  2. This will open up the Grading summary

  3. Click on View all submissions

Option 1:

  1. Click on the checkbox to the left of the student name(s) for the student assignments you want to reopen

  2. Next, from the dropdown menu below the list of students, choose Revert the submission to draft status and click the Go button to the right of the dropdown menu

  3. Click OK when asked to confirm the update to draft status

The submitted assignment has now been changed to Draft (not submitted). The student can reenter the assignment, delete their previous submission, upload new materials, and resubmit.

Option 2:

  1. Click Edit next to the submission you want to revert to draft

  2. Select Revert the submission to draft from the dropdown menu
