Gradebook: Drop Lowest Score

Learn how to enable dropping the lowest score in an activity.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to set up a Moodle feature that will drop the lowest score or scores for an activity.

Note

To enable the Drop the lowest option, all items in the category must have equal weight and equal point value and you cannot include any extra credit items in the category.

Please be aware that if a student has two assignments with the exact same grade for their lowest grade, the gradebook WILL drop one, but the Dropped tag will not show for that item.

Procedures

  1. Click the Grades tab in your course.

  2. Use the dropdown menu which defaults to Grader report to select Gradebook setup.
