Gradebook: Grade Display Type

Learn how to change how grade are displayed in the gradebook

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to change the course grade display to a letter, number, a combination of the two, or to awarded points

Procedure

  1. From your course homepage, click on Grades

  2. Click on the drop-down and select Gradebook setup

  3. To the right of your course name at the top of the setup page, click Edit and choose Edit settings from the dropdown menu

  4. In the Category total section, click on the “Show more…” link

  5. In the Category total section, click on the dropdown for Grade display type

  6. Select your preferred Grade display type (“Real” means points)

  7. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page

  8. Return to your Grader Report page and you will see the change reflected on the page.

You may need to refresh your browser page to see the change

Test your selection to see how it will appear to students.

  1. From your course homepage, click on Grades

  2. Click on the drop-down and select User report

  3. Choose one of your students from the dropdown menu

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the user Grade report to preview what is displayed in the Course total.
