Gradebook: Grade Total Errors

Learn how to troubleshoot a grade total error

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to resolve a grade total error associated with the Drop lowest feature

Note

In order to enable the Drop the lowest option:

  • All items in the category must have equal weight and equal point value

  • You cannot include any extra credit items in the category

Procedures

  1. From the course homepage, click Grades and then Gradebook setup

  2. Take a screenshot of your gradebook in case you need to revert to the existing settings

  3. Click Edit to the right of the category that has the “drop lowest…” feature applied

  4. Choose Edit Settings

  5. In Grade category, delete the number in the Drop lowest box and click Save changes

  6. Now return to this screen and put your amount back into the Drop lowest field and click Save changes

  7. Check to see if the grades are correct in the categories and course total
