Quiz: Turnitin for Essay Questions

Instructors can enable Turnitin for exams with Essay questions.

Updated over 6 months ago

Purpose

This article outlines the steps to enable Turnitin for essay questions.

Procedure

Note: if Turnitin is enabled, you must set both an Open and a Close date for the quiz.

Create a new Quiz

  • Set up a quiz as you normally would.

  • Take special care to set both an Open and a Close date. If you don’t, Turnitin will mark the quiz as “dropped” in the Gradebook.

  • Enable Turnitin on the quiz settings page and update the options as desired.

Grade the Essay Questions

When it is time to grade, use the Turnitin Feedback Studio to evaluate the student essays. You can grade in the Feedback Studio or grade as you normally would for essay questions that require manual grading.

It is recommended that you post the grade in the quiz question and not the Feedback Studio. Either way, stick with one method and grade all of the essay questions with your chosen method.

For each Essay question, click on the small TII pencil icon to access the Turnitin Feedback studio
