Purpose
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to use special features in Films on Demand
Note
College employees have access to Films on Demand (FOD) through the portal.
However, to access special features on the FOD website (such as creating segments), you will also need to create a FOD-specific account.
Use your Cochise College email address to create a FOD account. You will need to sign in to both your college account and the FOD account to access special FOD features. The example below shows the Login button on the left and the New Account button on the right
Procedures
Create a Segment
Log into your Films on Demand account and navigate to the desired film
Use the playback bar to jump to the desired time in the film
TIP: Search the transcript feature to find a specific line you’d like to segment in the video.
Click Segments (located below the video window) to open the Custom Segment Creator
Enter the set start time and set end time for the custom segment. Enter a title. You also have the option to add a description
Click the Create Segment button when you are finished editing your Custom Segment
You will see a small confirmation at the bottom of your screen that says, Segment Created. Scroll to the top and click on the Segments link, if you are not already viewing your segments list
Click on the CUSTOM SEGMENTS tab. You will see the list of your custom-created segments
To add a link to your Moodle course, click on your name located on the top right of the FOD page
From the dropdown, choose My Content to access your custom segments
Each custom segment in your list will have an Actions menu on the right side. Click on the Actions dropdown menu adjacent to the segment link you want to copy, and select Share. (If nothing happens when you click Share, refresh the page and try again)
The Share To box will open. Click on the Embed/Link tab to access the embed code
Look for the Copy button that corresponds with the Embed Code listing
Click Copy
This action copies to the “clipboard” on your computer. Use your “paste” feature to paste the link into your Moodle activity
