Purpose
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to embed a Films on Demand custom segment into a Moodle course
Note
This tutorial assumes you have already created a Films on Demand account and have created a custom segment from a video. If you have not done so, please read the article Films on Demand: Create a Custom Segment
Procedure
Go to Films on Demand (FOD) and log into your profile
Click on your name located on the top right of the FOD page
From the dropdown menu, choose My Content to access your custom segments
Each custom segment in your list will have an Actions menu on the right side. Click on the Actions drop-down menu adjacent to the segment link you want to copy and select Share. (If nothing happens, refresh the page and try again)
The Share To box will open. Click on the Embed/Link tab to access the embed code
Look for the Copy button corresponding to the Embed Code listing (The 3rd copy button)
Click Copy. This action copies to the “clipboard” on your computer. You’ll use your “paste” feature to paste the link into your Moodle activity
Go to your Moodle course and turn Edit Mode on
Navigate to the desired section and click Add an activity or resource
Choose an activity such as Page, Text and media area, or Assignment (Anything with a text box)
Click the HTML button. Remove any HTML code that may be present in the box (e.g. <p> <br> </p>)
Paste the custom segment code that you copied from Films on Demand
Click Save and return to course located at the bottom of the page.
Note
Course participants may see the MyCochise login screen when they first attempt to view the video. It may be best to make note of this in your activity instructions.
The video will be available after the student logs in with Cochise College credentials
